Tesco groceries: Before you arrive, you can arrange delivery by Tesco (www.tesco.com, tel: 0845 722 5533) of your food to West Winds (postcode: SA3 1NA). They deliver at the weekend. Register and use your Tesco club card.
Please note that most mobiles do not operate at West Winds, so you may need to use the West Winds telephone (Tel: 01792 390 334).
Other shops: On the Gower, there is a garage/supermarket at Southgate with a good selection of groceries, meat and vegetables.
In Summer there is a small store and chip shop in Oxwich. Port Eynon, Parkmill and Kittle also have small stores.
Pubs: The Oxwich Hotel and Ship Hotel (Port Eynon) are very basic, and we recommend the King Arthur Hotel in Reynoldstone or the Joiners in Bishopston (the Swansea Brewery is based here).
Restaurants: Excellent but more expensive food is available at Fairyhill Hotel, Maes-yr-haf and the Welcome to Town (Llanridhian); representing 3 of the best restaurants in Wales. Alternatives in Swansea are Slice (Sketty) and Patrick’s (Mumbles).
Icecream: Joe’s Icecream parlour in Mumbles is famous.
Swansea market: Swansea market is excellent for local meat (salt marsh lamb), fish, cockles, lavabread and vegetables.
Fishmongers: Coakleys of Swansea Market and Mumbles (next door to White Rose Pub) have great fresh fish and shellfish.
Fishing: an excellent shop for tackle and bait is Mainwarings of Sketty Swansea, and boats can be hired from Swansea Docks.
Water Sports: Euphoria of Oxwich Bay (Summer Only) organise Gower boat trips, wind surfing, surfing and water skiing. There is also surfing at Llangennith Beach, Caswell and Langland.
